About the NETS

The National Employment Training Scheme (NETS) is a program that strives to achieve a significant part of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), while also addressing one of the biggest challenges facing the Nigeria today – the reduction of unemployment and its attendant consequences on the Nigerian economy.

The program employs international human resource best practices to select Nigerians from across the country, and train these unemployed youths to acquire the exact competencies required by employers, thereby bridging the skills gap which has been the most frequent reason given for the low employment rates in Nigeria.

The main objective of this scheme is to proffer quality training on a full-scholarship basis to a large number of individuals across all states of the federation based on their performance in the selection process, and facilitate the placement of successful candidates in companies in Nigeria as interns.

The internship will afford trainees the opportunity to prove their competence and in so doing secure a permanent place after the period. Participating firms will not be mandated to pay the trainees a stipend during this period. Retention of the trainees after the three - six months placement will be at the discretion of the firm.

In the recent concluded maiden edition of the National Employment Training Scheme, a significant number of our trainees have been converted from interns to full time employees in companies such as Visafone, Huaxin Consulting and numerous other participating firms.

Testimonials

At the beginning, I thought it was one of those job scams but a trial proved me wrong. Interestingly, the training was quite educative with wonderful facilitators...
